No this isn't a post about Buffy but the answers to the Music Quiz I did yesterday since 5 songs have remained unguessed. Those 5 were difficult though. Answers are linked to youtube videos and I explain in bold the "Buffy" or "Dollhouse" connections.

1. "Moonlight Mile" by The Rolling Stones (from Sticky Fingers). One of their best songs !
2. "Sao Paulo Rain" by Tom McRae( from his debut album). A song Xander listens to after the wedding fiasco in season 6. The youtube vid is a Buffy/Angel one but I shall bear some Bangel just for Tom...;- )
3. The dance of the puppets /The rusted chains of prison moons..."In the Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson
5. "Always on My Mind" by Elvis Presley (of course!) . Ah Elvis' voice.....
6. "Life On Mars?" by David Bowie. Tom did a cover but I prefer David's version.
7. "The Crystal Ship" by The Doors
8. "Pavlov's Bells" by Aimee Mann. She sang it in "Sleeper" during BTVS season 7.
9. "I Wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones. Spike hums it in "Crush", season 5.
10. "All I Know" by Art Garfunkel. It's a lovely song and if you watch Nip/Tuck you must know the track for it was used in the wonderful ending scene of the season 2 finale . One of the greatest tv twists ever.
11. "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush . When I was a young teen I prefered "Babooshka" though and wanted her outfit from the video! I loved that song and played it all the time driving my family nuts. Ah the 80's !!!!
12. This is what you get/ this is what you get. It's "Karma Police" by Radiohead!
13. "Fantasy" by Earth, Wind & Fire
14. "Mad About You" by Sting
15. Waking to these sounds again / I wonder how I'll sleep "Over and Over" by Morcheeba (Big Calm)
16. Holding hands/Skipping like a stone/On our way/To see what we have done "Burn the Witch" by Queens of the Stone Age (Lullaby to Paralyze).
17. I'm coming up only to hold you under/ I'm coming up only to show you wrong "The Funeral" by Band of Horses.
18. "Children of the Revolution" by T-Rex(Marc Bolan singing).
19. "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who. Giles sings it at the Bronze in BTVS season 4, and  Willow swoons over his voice.
20. "I Go To Sleep" by Sia (written by the singer of The Kinks, but it's The Pretenders' cover is the most famous). Sia's cover can be heard at the end of the 4th episode of Dollhouse.

I know Sia since she keeps borrowing the marvellous Oli Krauss to play with her. Oli is the cello genius that has been touring with Tom McRae for years.

By the way Tom is 40 today. Happy Birthday dear Tom !!!!

BSG 4.5 starts in 8 days ! The ten last episodes of the best tv thing we've had since Buffy!

I wonder if anyone from my flist has been following the Sci-Fi "You Will Know The Truth" clues...16 so-called clues have been "revealed" so far.

And Lost's new season begins on the 21th, so there will be more stuff to ponder soon...

Also I know I said last year that I would not watch Nip/Tuck anymore...Well, I'm weak. I gave in and watched episode 5x15...Nothing spectacular, as expected (the parallels have become sooooo not subtle), but I'm  a sucker for Sean/Christian and Christian/Liz !

I might have indulged in such bad treat because I'm having my implants surgery tomorrow morning, but in my case it's titanium in my jaw bone, not silicone in my chest. Is it the beginning of my turning into an artifical creature?

It was rainy today, a perfect weather for movie time so I went to see Clooney's movie. I had papers to mark but I just couldn't. I've not been feeling well for a few days, I've even kept a basin not far away from my bed at night, because I suspected an upcoming gastro-enteritis, but so far I'm just feeling tired, queasy, over-emotional,  and a bit fevered. I'm sure there's a virus eating me within my body but it hasn't unveiled itself yet. Bastard! So since I couldn't fall asleep last night, I re-watched late reruns of Nip/Tuck on the cable. They've begun to show season 3 at last, but last night there was first the finale of s2 and then the first eppy of season 3. I watched both.

I just watched episode 12 and was so happy to see Mitch Pileggi, since I found him so sexy when he was on X-Files! I was in a bad mood all day long and this saved my day.

Some people got concerned about what's happening in Paris and emailed me or left comments on LJ about it. I don't know how foreign media dealt with the events but sounds like they were presenting them like there would be some civil war going on in Paris. I really have the disturbing impression that they are emphasizing and exaggerating things on your screens.

Yes riots and violent behaviour have been occurring for a week, and yes it's shocking but it's quite located in certain suburbs, and even there, they're only a few projects in the Parisian suburbs and in the provinces facing the mess made by a bunch of hooligans. And I think that the media have a big responsability for the spreading of that violence.

Don't get me wrong, it's disturbing and it must be horrible for the people living over there because buses and cars got burnt and as usual it's the most vulnerable people, the most exposed who take the rap. Unfortunately the situation isn't new. Those areas are awful to live in, there's a high unemployment rate and the building are damaged.  They have a history of violence...There's a lot of despair and black economy often rules. Religious fundamentalism feeds on that situation bringing youngters against our Republic, and so do criminal organizations. Sometimes those groups are the same (nests of terrorism), sometimes they are not. I don't live in the suburbs but I know it because I used to work in such suburbian towns and some of my students were already pretty violent and well known by the police. The current behaviours are pretty self-destructive given that they're damaging their area. Apart form those areas, I have friends and family living in the suburbs and it's rather peaceful. Of course Sarkozy's statements didn't help to calm down the young people...That guy is totally irresponsible!

BTW if there's any "civil war" going on in Paris these days it's actually the one taking place inside of our government between Prime Minister Dominique De Villepin and his Minister of the Interior, Nicolas Sarkozy but that's another story.

Speaking of disturbing things on screen, I watched the last Nip/Tuck

I'm speechless!

Well not really, but Nip/Tuck last episode was so dark, so tragic. It even made me cry. And I loved it. Joss Whedon trained me to be hurt and to like it...

I know I've only been doing tv reviews lately but I'm going to see Serenity tomorrow and I'm planning to watch Polanski's Oliver Twist on Sunday, so film reviews will come! But for now, Nip/Tuck deserves one!

I couldn't sing "I am not an addict" along with Q'Choice because I do have  a few addictions...I'm addicted to chocolate, to coke (check out the spelling twice before going on....) and to certain American series. BTVS was probablly my biggest tvaddiction hence the pile of DVDs in my living room and this LJ. But I have new ones now...Nip/Tuck and The Shield. I'm an outlaw again. I've downloaded the first episode of  Nip/Tuck s 3 because the finale of season 2 was so cliffhangsty (yes I know I'm making up a word!) and I couldn't wait until we get the new season on the French cable!

I'll review the first season of The Shield soon, but here's my take on Nip/Tuck premiere.

scalpels will spoil you )
