The mystery that is Lost

Lost is a mystery for me because the quality is so fluctuating you never know what to expect. When it's good it can be brilliant but when it's bad it's really bad and in between we get episodes showing poor writing and inspired stuff or great acting at the same time...

I gave up and gave in

There were 5 papers left, I could have carried on an hour more but I was fed up of marking so I quit. I'm going to get up earlier and finish tomorrow morning.

I still rewarded myself with Lost, the first half of the finale at least...

What? My home, my rules!

So a penny for my thoughts?

If I were on an island

I'd know what to wear today. But I am not.

The sky is grey, it might rain later...and I'm going to a wedding in the afternoon !
Shall I wear my long purple dress with the stole I bought in Marrakech? But which shoes could match it? Or maybe the Chinese-like outfit I wore once at a friend's wedding? Or my dark green suit (dress and long-sleeved jacket) ? Or black trousers with a fancy top? This is soooo frustrating.

If only I were on an island....

Noooooooooo !!!!

LJ ate my post!

I've been writing a review on the two last episodes of Lost for an hour, and everything is gone! I'm so frustrated and angry right now it's not even funny.

I digressed a lot and was in the middle of interpretating Lost through the Ultraist doctrine, in which the art of metaphor rules, and drawing parallels with Borges' works that are filled with miracles and fantasmagories when my post vanished.

Ever felt you were trapped ?

It's a feeling everybody has experienced once or twice in their life...

I liked 2x16 because it was a Jin/Sun centric episode and I loved 2x17 because it's a Locke centric one and a good episode!

Back to the normal schedule

I was back to school today. I've still a lot of marking ahead, but after talking to my colleagues, I feel less guilty. Also I was kind of happy to see my students, and honestly I think I was a good teacher today even though a whole day of teaching left me quite tired. I had a nice chat with 4 of them after the last class. It started about some work they had to do, but then they asked me my opinion about some stuff and I replied honestly. We had a bonding moment and it was cool. Sometimes I love my job and I really like the youngsters especially in moments of trust when you get to see a spark in their eyes, a knowing smile, when you catch a glimpse of the young adults they are about to become.

Between papers, or rather while marking papers, I caught up with Lost and Battestar Galactica over the week end.

Lost pride

I saw Pride and Prejudice on Tuesday and haven't reviewed I didn't know what to say.

The nasty lurking bug I mentioned a while ago, came out eventually. I almost threw up and passed out in the classroom, in front of my students yesterday, and ended up very ill (and feeling awful for "making a show" of my condition) in the teachers' restroom, so I stayed in the warm this morning. I'm feeling better, but tired and headachy.

Oh and I've just watched the last Lost.

(no subject)

I'm having a Elvis crisis again. It started on Thursday.

It happens about twice a year. I can't help listening to Elvis over and over. I had the weirdest dream last night btw. It's probably tied to my reading of fanfictions from seasonal_spuffy . Anyway, I dreamt of Buffy singing to Spike, in a OMWF kind of way, "You're Always On My Mind". The lyrics actually fit in the relationship , but Buffy singing with Elvis' voice, now that was bizarre!

Speaking of oddity, I watched the last episode of Lost...No, before you call the men in white, I don't think that Elvis is still alive and stuck on an island...

I watched the last Lost and I really enjoyed the episode.

A few infos about the album I'm listening to. Yvon le Quellec is a friend of mine and a Mathematics teacher. He's also a harpist, devoted to his celtic harp and to Harpo Marx, a composer and a singer (either in French or in Breton). I hadn't seen him for 3 years, but I knew he was playing and eventually I went to his gig on Saturday in a church and it was like finding a new Yvon, seeing a new man I didn't know. I had never realized until then that he was a real musician, playing celtic harp for almost 30 years, and that it was so serious. I thought it was simply a hobby and something that had to do with his Breton roots. Celtic harp is actually very nice and he can sing.

Catching up with old friends leads to pleasant surprises...

It's good to be bad

If I were a good girl I would have marked some papers today...instead I watched 3 episodes of The Shield (the 2 last eppys of season 2 and the first one of seaosn 3), the last Lost and James' scenes on Smallville!

But hey could have been worse...I can't get the 8th episode of Nip/Tuck. I tried several sites to grab a working torrent but nothing, nada, wallou, rien de rien!

I took a pill, had a nap and then I watched Lost episode 5. A very good episode!

I may be even more sick than I thought but the episode called Eluard's poem to my mind and I think the writers might have read it too. So now Lost

Downloading away

I've been trying for days to get Nip/Tuck S3 Ep3...Everytime the download got stuck at 97% or 98%! But I won't give up. Hopefully the third torrent might be the good one.

In the mean time I managed to grab Lost Ep 4. Here's a few thoughts

Well, now that was a very good episode! And not only because I love Locke and the flash backs were about him...But damnit Desmond is sometimes so hard to understand (while Locke is very easy to my French ears)!
