Here's a translation in English of Eluard's famous surrealist poem I used in my previous lost entry:

The Earth is blue like an orange
Never a mistake words do not lie
They no longer give you cause to sing
It' kisses' turn to get along
The madmen and the loves
She her wedding-ring mouth
All the secrets all the smiles
And what garments of indulgence
To believe her quite naked

The wasps are flowering green
The dawn is worn around the neck
A necklace of windows
Wings cover the leaves
You have all the solar joys
All the sunlight over the Earth
On the roads of your beauty

Paul Eluard

Oh, thank you for this... I was just about to google for a translation because your last post intrigued me so, and poetry is like bread to me.

Lost is quickly becoming my other fandom -- how can you not love a show with references like this one?

Your analysis was lovely to read. The other thing that struck me was the wild boar that squealed right before they hid and we saw the other's feet. Lord of the Flies certainly seems to be a consistent reference.

Yes. And Alice in Wonderland too...

I mentioned below that I like it very much. Love it when things fit together like that.

And that it might be noted that when Sun buried the bottle she buried their hopes and dreams, she also buried her own hopes in dreams with it in the form of her ring. Then she refound them.... for all....

The fact she started a garden first was meaningful. It's work, it's action, she isn't a passive character whining, lamenting her fate or waiting for something to happen. As Voltaire said at the end of his philosophical tale, "Candide", "we must cultivate our garden".

I like the fact that Sun is a gardener and Eve to her Jin!Adam...and even though the Island isn't the Garden of Eden!

That garden represented her hope so tearing it apart was symbolical.

Oh yes! The garden! For some reason I concentrated on the ring and did not recognize the metaphor the garden represents.
