Once more with the characters! *sigh*
I relate more to authors in general than to just one of the characters they have created. I believe that a truly good book is one that makes you relate to all the characters in one way or another.

Day 26 – A book that changed your opinion about something
L'Affaire du Chien des Baskerville changed my opinion about its author Pierre Bayard. I had seen him on tv, promoting another book, and I wasn't super impressed. But when I read that book, which is so clever and also hilarious in places, I thought "that man is brillant!".

But for many reasons (the beautiful writing, the storytelling, the theme of the French Revolution told from the point of view of the Caribbean, the politics...) I adore El Siglo de Las Luces by Alejo Carpentier.
