Tom is the best! I just love that guy. I was very close to the stage but I didn't have my camera (stupid me...and they didn't even check out our bags, I could have brought it!) so no pictures from me. Tom starts with "Mermaid Blues" from his second album Just Like Blood...and he sang it a capella! He sang a capella in the mythic venue that is L'Olympia. That's Tom.

The concert was magic as usual. The supporting band was a Californian guy, Chris Stills, who sang pretty well but didn't have anything special. There was a song that was pretty cool and on which we danced though. And guess what the title was?

Fool For Love !

I'm going to bed now.

I've just noticed something neat.

I can't believe I didn't notice it! Actually I know why I didn't. I downloaded the episodes of BTVS season 6 on a site that gave them in slices and sometimes there were missing scenes. And I must confess that I haven't watched all the episodes that I have on dvds. So I actually hadn't seen THAT scene!

At the beginning of "Entropy", before the credits, a very depressed Xander is listening to some music on his stereo...

It's Tom McRae singing "Sao Paulo Rain"!!!!!

I love Xander if only for his good taste.

I'm going to stop soon, I promise, but I'm still on Tom high you know...This morning while I was walking in the streets towards the subway to reach my work place, I could hear him singing in my head still. What? When I love I'm pretty passionate.

Anyway here's a piece of Tom's british humour (he's very funny on stage btw), it's from his on-line diary (on his website).

I'm back from the Opera Bastille where I saw "La Bohème". Of course I had a thought for Giles in "Passion" by the end of Act 1.

I liked it, the décor was well done and I especially enjoyed the streets scenes and the café scene. But I kinda had the same feelings as 12 years ago when I saw it at the Opera of Nice. The story is just too soppy and doesn't move me at all. Rodolpho/Mimi pair annoys me and I still prefer Marcello/Museta. Museta was quite good btw, the singer sang well and was very in character. Rodolpho was a bit weak voice wise. I don't know what's going on with ténors these days but it's hard to find a good one. As for Mimi...well, not a bad singer but she so didn't look like she should be. It's like the Willow in the unaired pilote of Buffy!

You expect Mimi to be fragile and skinny and that soprano was big, chubby...lively. It was hard to believe that the character was very ill. Anyway I've always had a problem with Mimi. She's a twit and honestly how could someone who is supposed to have breathing issues and suffocate can SING like that while dying?

But well Puccini's music had its moments...

This month of October started very musically, didn't it?
