Once More With Tom

chaniI'm going to stop soon, I promise, but I'm still on Tom high you know...This morning while I was walking in the streets towards the subway to reach my work place, I could hear him singing in my head still. What? When I love I'm pretty passionate.
Anyway here's a piece of Tom's british humour (he's very funny on stage btw), it's from his on-line diary (on his website).
September 10th, Boston
Day 4 of the Hotel Café tour, sharing a van with this many singer-songwriters was bound to cause trouble. After a peaceful first day several people are now trying to grow beards, form independent political parties, or passionately discuss 16th century French poetry… while still arguing about who’s to blame for global warming. I should have been in a rock band, snorting coke from a hooker’s navel and wearing leather trousers. In fact I still might. This is America after all, where anything is possible. Where any idiot can grow up to be President.

If Indians measure their age in summers, then musicians must count theirs in tours – in which case I’m rapidly approaching a significant birthday, or possibly just senility. At least that’s the explanation I choose for not being able to remember little things. Like where I put my sunglasses, or my drummer’s name… or what happened in any of the last five years.
I do just about recall a raucous final show in New York last week, before bidding farewell and bon voyage to the rest of the Hotel Café crew and heading back to Europe for my own full band tour. Hey, American friends… my bus is bigger! Maybe next year we’ll try the same thing in Europe, and if we do, don’t miss it. Even I enjoyed myself, and we know how rare that is.
I can't wait for his comments on yesterday gig!
