frances_lievens and I are making a LJ community to fit my idea of a Salon in which we could discuss everything, like they did in the 18th Century.
I'll keep this LJ as an interface between my LJ friends and me and for fandom stuff, but the community will be devoted to films reviews, tv reviews, book reviews, art and discussions on everything philosophical or sociological, or meta etc...
I hope the community will be operational from Wednesday on, but neither she nor I are very versed in computery stuff (ok she's far better than me, she's doing the customizing !) so we could use some help from LJ users who have mastered html, artwork etc...
For instance we'd need an icon for the community, an icon that would suit the idea of a Salon. A header perhaps too?
If anyone could help, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Date: 2006-06-04 12:02 pm (UTC)I'm currently working from pictures by P. He promised to make some for me later in the afternoon. It will be lots of mugs. ;-) I've uploaded one and made it default, so you'll get the jist of most of them.
Still looking for something with couches etc. I'm tempted of photographing my own...
P.S.: How much I like
P.P.S.: Currently there won't be any words on the icons.

Date: 2006-06-04 12:59 pm (UTC)It's a picture I took in Versailles...no don't worry it isn't a 18th century salon. It's something else...
BTW I wanted to use a Pascal's quote for the loaction, you know the one defining God: "a circle whose circumference is nowhere and centre everywhere", but oculdn't make it show.

Date: 2006-06-04 01:54 pm (UTC)I like that userpic. I'm making some more and will upload those in my photobucket, so you can view and choose there...
(some are 18th century, though... I'm breaking my own rules!)

Date: 2006-06-04 12:49 pm (UTC)I don't know much about those topics, I mean, I don't think I'd have anything interesting or valuable to add to those types of conversations, but I'd like to join and listen in occasionally if that's alright. You can count on me to be supportive. :)

Date: 2006-06-04 03:01 pm (UTC)I've had a few people ask me about how men can get rid of hairy places without waxing. I think I might link this on the links section of my LJ. Right after the brazilian wax link. :D

Date: 2006-06-04 03:12 pm (UTC)The world is going to be divided between the countries of hairy men (even the gay ones) and the others.
See, this totally could become a dicussion in our Salon, under the coffeetable-discussion tag.

"Le déjeuner sur l'herbe" is very nice as an icon indeed, but I am not sure it's tied in with the idea of a Salon. It would be great for the discussions about painting though.

Date: 2006-06-04 08:15 pm (UTC)... don't hold your breath, pet. Don't want to be blamed for giving Chani appoplexy!
Good on you for doing this, truly. As Tom Hanks nearly says in, Field of Dreams,
"Build it, and they will come..."
Go Chani, Go Frances!

Date: 2006-06-07 10:20 am (UTC)It's S2 and the layout is "Smooth Sailing". It's Frances who did it so you'd better ask her. She should be around.
