It is unfair !

I bought Serenity DVD yesterday and I was planning to watch it this evening. And guess what? My DVD player chose just today to die!

I can't play Serenity, I can't get past the menu actually...It either goes forward in "search mode" or skips tracks or takes me back to the beginning like the machine is possessed or something.

I tried with another DVD and it's the same bug going over and over.

I'm upset.

ETA: Oh this is getting worse, because I tried with The 25th hour and that DVD plays perfecly !  No skipping, no backwarding, no mistracking...I'm cursed ! Why does it go wonky with certain DVDs and not with others?

The DVD format has never been standardized the way CDs are. Not all DVDs will play well, or even at all, on all players. This is aggravated by various copy protection schemes which cause problems for honest consumers while merely providing a few minutes entertainment for folks that enjoy the challenge of cracking such. Or so my husband, the pirate, tells me. Sorry you are having trouble, it makes me want to pull my hair out when that happens.

First welcome aboard, pirate's wife! ;- )

Some hairs were sacrified indeed, but it seems to work now...As I said in my following entry, I got to see the entire movie. I hope I'll be able to rewatch it later!

It's like it needed a bit of warm-up...Can a DVD player get rusty for not playing enough?

Thanks! :D

Glad you got it working, maybe it's just one of those things.
