You haven't seen On Golden Pond, The Goodbye Girl, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Romancing the Stone, or even The Manchurian Candidate?? And Three Days of the Condor, Casablanca, High Noon, Doctor Zhivago and just about anything John Ford/John Wayne haven't made the list yet. Lemme know when the list gets into older hands with more movies before the Reagan administration and then I might give it a go! ;~P

I mostly haven't seen the chicks flicks of that list. Some did sound like films for teenagers.

I have seen Three Days of The Condor and Casablanca, and Doctor Jivago and all the Bacall/Bogart movies and Marilyn's movies and Gilda, and Orson Wells' films and many French movies of the 40's and 50's...and asian movies that weren't on the list either!

Besides this is such an American list (barely a few foreign movies)as if the other cinemas didn't exist!

Yes to "African Queen" and "Great Dictator." African Queen is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it every time I had the chance.

I'm refusing on the grounds that, with less films seen than the number of years I've been on this earth, I'll look like a complete bore...

Now, if there had been more films that included guys like John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Robert Redford, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Richard Prior, Gene Wilder, John Candy... some musicals, some original Disney or old Gangster style movies with Jimmy Cagney, Edward G Robinson, some Agatha Christie who-dunnits, even comedies with Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, The Stooges, Marx Bros, Harold Lloyd... ahhh memories, I'd have been up there with you Chani.

These days, I seldom go to the movies. Last time was for LoTR, RotK... and next time will be at the end of June for War of the Worlds with minilinnit. That's only because we've read the book and we want to see how much Tom Cruise et al have buggered about with, or honoured, Mr Wells classic.

Actually I think that the list was made up by LJ users one by one (with the 5 titles added in the end)...and there are lost of youngsters out there, hence very few classics.

BTW few movies are really good on that list yet there are very good movies too nowadays.
