Yes I felt the same. I'm out of the loop for many things fandom-wise, especially the language. i've just asked someone on my flist what that habit of typing "teh" instead of "the" was and meant...It's something I often see on LJ (teh cool, teh funny etc)and it feels weird and also kinda annoys the teacher in me!
But I'm also known to cringe at the LJ childish speak ("our cool features"!).
Actually I guessed you hadn't seen it, but it seemed so funny! Don't worry I take pleasure at teasing myself...ok maybe I should rephrase that because that sounds a bit naughty!
I think it became the 'thing to do' because people just kept typing it wrongly! It drives me mad - but then student who use 'i' instead of 'I' and 'u' instead of 'you' also drive me mad.
