I especially loved that bit. Angel is spying on Buffy comforting Spike:

She is beautiful now: fealty, compassion, and kindness. Watching her turn herself over completely to the comfort of another, he sees everything he ever loved about her. And he can't decide which he hates more, her charity or his lack of it.

I've read this too, and considering it was The Bear's first long fic, it's a superb story. I love good prose in a fic and sadly that's becoming less available in newer BtVS fanfics - I presume because many of the 'real' authors find their muse needs fresher inspirations and so they drift off to other shows/genre's.

Thank the heavens above for authors like Herself who've stayed with this fandom. And thank goodness there are still some newer quality writers, like The Bear, st salieri, annaross and Jane who have taken BtVS under their literary wings.
