I was back to school today. I've still a lot of marking ahead, but after talking to my colleagues, I feel less guilty. Also I was kind of happy to see my students, and honestly I think I was a good teacher today even though a whole day of teaching left me quite tired. I had a nice chat with 4 of them after the last class. It started about some work they had to do, but then they asked me my opinion about some stuff and I replied honestly. We had a bonding moment and it was cool. Sometimes I love my job and I really like the youngsters especially in moments of trust when you get to see a spark in their eyes, a knowing smile, when you catch a glimpse of the young adults they are about to become.

Between papers, or rather while marking papers, I caught up with Lost and Battestar Galactica over the week end.

A really good episode at last !!!! The last scene in Iraq was simply
beautiful. The shots were stunning. And of course Sayid had to meet Kate's father over there...

I loved the shots in the hatch too. Quite artistic.

Do you think I've really lost my mind if I say that I saw the tree frog as a metaphor of Swayer's conscience? Like Jimini cricket, you know, except it was
a frog.

It was an episode about GUILT (Hurley and food, Sawyer and what
happened previously, and of course Sayid's past) after all. BTW no
wonder that it was Ana-Lucia who led Sayid to Danielle.

A friend of mine had a theory about Henry Gale and I think she's on something. It is a hint to the Wizard of Oz...Dorothy Gale, anyone? And the Balloon that was supposed to get her back from Oz...

Everything is still screaming fantasy!

What I liked the least was the red and black hieroglyphes showing up att he end of the countdown. Felt too much like they are playing with the fans, knowing they would research and all. I like a good game, but the series must be a good show before being simply a game between the writers and the fans (who of course found a dictionnary and translated the message http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x14/glyphs.jpg ).

Besides I like my clues a bit less obvious...

I don't have Sci-Fi anymore on my cable selection (those bastards!)so I had to download 3 episodes ("Final Cut", "Flight of the Phenix", "Pegasus").

I must say that I began to watch the series because of Baltar and the new Cylons, but Baltar has become annoying lately, mostly working as a comic relief.

I enjoyed the episode guest-starring Lucy Lawless as a journalist, she was so far from Xena, hardly recognizable and it was a good thing. Of course her being a Cylon wasn't such a surprise. If I had to infiltrate a world, press would be a tempting and obvious target! By the way, Apollo's body does nothing for me, but now that I've seen the towel scene I understand [livejournal.com profile] kashmanik's icon!

"Flight of The Phenix" was a bit weak IMO, but "Pegasus" was interesting. I think that the blond cylon on the floor (the one who looks like #6)did a good job when she reached for the food, the gesture was very robotish.
And we were back to the theme of torture. When Helo and Chief ran to rescue Boomer I got pretty excited, and when Adama decided to get back his men I was like "Yeah go Bill, go!". But I'm worried about the Helo/Sharon couple now. Please, please don't kill Helo ! He's such a nice guy.

That episode called to my mind another one from the old series, I'm pretty sure it's a remake but I don't really remember it. The ending was frustrating so I must watch "Resurection Ship" tonight!

I got the Lost letters from hieroglyphs (Middle Egyptian):

1) s as in seattle
2) w as in weather
3) d as in French dieu
4) a - glottal stop a - say it and swallow it as in all
5} unknown character from my translit list

Using their last character from lost.cubit.net (http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x14/glyphs.jpg) - what is their last character? Is it d as in die or dead? So....

se-we-du-ah-?? or se-we-du-ah-die?? See we do all die?

Alyson Hannigan was on the Ellen Degeneres show today. She is a Lost fanatic too. Her idea about Lost is that there is no idea! That was what David Fury tried to say also, so she may have gotten it from him. Fury started passing that idea around that the producer had no plan or reason or rhyme for the show when they kicked him off of it.

I read the hieroglyphs meant CAUSATIVE DIE. maybe I should ask a friend of mine (PH's partner) who is an Egyptologist ! But I'm pretty sure he's gonna be mad because it's probably bad Egyptian (just like the supposed French woman, Rousseau, speaks French like I'd speak Russian in a Swedish series!).

I hope AH is wrong. But maybe this is why it's so uneven. They only have ad hoc ideas in some episodes. They'd better come up with a plan, lots of people are losing interest and I don't think the series could go on long in a muddle-headed way.
