I didn't see this coming in!

It was getting unhealthy, the way Dutch wanted to undertsand, to learn from the serial cuddling rapist/killer...but I didn't expect him to strangle a cat he was feeding just to fell what the serial killer had felt damnit!

It was so gratuitous, so cold, so easy, so unacceptable...it unveiled such darkness. Where will he go from there?

And I had my cat purring on my lap when it happened on screen.

This is really something I'll have a hard time to deal with, concerning Dutch.

I don't know...when he suddenly grabbed the cat, the way he agressively stroked him and put him in front of himself wasn't normal at all (I started freaking out then actually), holding him at eyes-level, the way he looked at the cat kinda recalled what the killer said about staring at his victims' faces and that the thing was how he felt inside then.

I don't think Dutch planned this, but it was like suddenly he had the urge to check the killers' infos. Scary.

Your description makes me remember it more clearly. You're right - there was something off from the start. I think it's part of his social ineptitude. He doesn't know tenderness. He can be a pompous git (and I'm still convinced that it was Claudette who put the turd in his desk drawer). He's only good with people when he's manipulating them. He sucks at personal relationships - and even regarding work he can be really difficult.
