New Caprica tonight. Watch it live American Flist !
Maybe it's because I'm emotional with all the goodbyes going on at work, but I fear that Caprica won't be picked up for a second season.
I assume that the ratings haven't been very good since the return of the show and after the last episode, I guess that some viewers who were only interested in watching a certain actor won't tune in again.
Also I saw this picture on the Internet, entitled "Working with James Marsters" (apparently Eric Stoltz has been posting memento photographs on Twitter about his directing work) which made me smile because of Marsters' previous fannish statement on Stoltz the actor, but it also left me with a weird feeling.
It looks like they are all tired and somewhat sad, and Eric is already moving on, not quite there anymore...

Which is a shame, because there's so much potential in this show - if the network would just give it a chance - and nurture it the way they did BSG...it could be brilliant.
But I know it's expensive, so that may not be an option. I think it costs a little over 1 million to shoot per episode.
Nothing appears to be decided yet, so we shall see. At least Stolz is busy directing, but I'd much rather see him in front of the camera, than behind it. I love Stolz. Have always loved Stolz.

I prefered the first half of the season as well. I don't think that it is a matter of pace or that the show is slower (there's actually more action), but there's a lack of unity, it's too scattered (not only because of the various storylines, but in the editing).
It was easier for BSG thanks to its premise: survivors on the run and the cylons chasing them. There was a feeling of urgency, of perpetual tension that gave a certain pace and it was mostly a "huis clos" situation; all the episodes had in common a stifling context either on the Galactica or Cylon-occupied Caprica, or on New Caprica or on the Cylon Baseship. Caprica' universe is much more complex and, above all, much larger, and therefore it's sort of diluted into that "12 planet decadent world that doesn't know the tragedy that is to come" without the urgency and tension that helped making BSG a fine hour of television, so it's difficult for the show to find its unity.
Besides I think that they are trying to appeal to too many different kinds of audience at once. When I read reviews I'm always surprised to see some viewers loving what I find to be the weakest and worst points of Caprica and hating what gets me entralled!
The guy who reviews Caprica on the AV.TV Club thinks that Eric Stoltz's acting isn't good. Can you believe that ?!!!!
