Indeed.

Like when she and Spike were verbally sparring after Angel had met Buffy in the pagan tomb (Buffy had Angel breath), Buffy said something to the effect like, 'some day I'm going to put the two of you [Angel & Spike] in a room and let you fight it out' - was a foreshadowing of Spike showing up on the series "Angel." And it finally struck me [perhaps all over again?] that the last spoken word by Buffy in the series was "Spike." In answer to Giles' question as to how Sunnydale cratered into the hellmouth. Other than that she was speechless, not uttering any of her famous quips, perhaps even comtemplative. Maybe her cookie dough was heating up?!

And that smile at the end was as much a part of the character as it was for Sarah Michelle Gellar herself, signifying the end of Buffy.
