I did like the fight scene and Tahmoh is into that type of fighting that's why Josh put it in. It has to be a foreshadowing of what is to come for Tahmoh's character. He's going to get a beating down, either by his bosses or Echo... or both. But he'll come back from it and prevail. I got the idea that the show is going to be more about him and less about 'Echo.'
I like Echo's handler, shades of the Carl Lumbly who backed up Jennifer Garner's character in ALIAS. And I like the guy who zaps them into and out of character. He's got that geeky self-confidence in his character. Except that it might be that the heart and chain Echo had in her hand when she was wiped that first time (on screen) might be the catalyst for her starting to remember things....
Honestly, "Mine Own Worst Enemy" was a better show about this same 'technology.' It had more depth and a richness of interwoven characters right off the bat. I don't get Josh's need to titillate his audience. Even if I were straight I don't think I'd be turned on by Dushku or any of the other women on the show. And that thing she and the terminator-girl from "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" that is on before "Dollhouse" is just so yech.... blah! Frankly, I don't think Dushku could act her way out of a wet paper bag when she tries to act as an "alluring woman." Otherwise, she's not too bad. I liked her Ms Penn character, it seemed to fit her.
Though I do appreciate the Tahmoh beefcake! And like your icon (can I steal it?). Every time I see him, I'll be undressing that torso with my eyes..... and the start going down. ...
