Enough !

I'm taking a break from Marking Hell to post about my tv shows. I'm caught up for I watched Lost and BSG before going to bed yesterday. Both shows were brilliant !

I watch Lost for the writing and the characters' journey but I can't deny the fact that show could provide a great harem for a woman. So many attractive guys who have all their time screen of greatness and hotness.

I'm not a big fan of Jack, I am not into the character and the actor's looks do nothing for me, but it's okay because there are sexy Sawyer, pretty Jin, endearing Desmond, charming Sayid...even the evil Mr Keamy is quite steamy (the scene in which he was shirtless and they were putting that thing on his arm! Wow)

And there's John Locke, older but handsome man he is.

Last week it was a Locke-centric episode. I was afraid that they had ruined the character and that my love for Locke was soon to be gone...Que nenni ! My beloved John is back!

Terry O'Quinn has such amazing eyes and such a heartwarming smile!

The episode was very good. I loved the echoes from previous episode and all the continuity stuff like a scene opening with John's eyes or young Locke already liking to play games, or teenage John being locked in a box and his saying later "don't tell me what I can't do"!  Of course young John should have chosen the comics about mystery tales and the "hidden land" instead of the knife(or so are we supposed to believe)...but he was a nerd who wanted to be a tough manly guy.

John has been fighting destiny, that fickle bitch as Ben said,  for a long time. He isn't only a guy with Daddy issues, he's the guy who wanted to belong to something or to someone and thought he could make it if he tried hard enough. His life has been a series of challenges, hopes and disappointments and sometimes he's bitter and seems to give up but he keeps going on, he keeps fighting and believing that he can do it.
He isn't a mystic relying on invisible forces at all, he embodies the idea that men can do it ! No wonder that he is the one being told to move the island...

"don't tell me what I can't do" is definitely John's motto. In a way he's a self-made man on a self-discovery journey which suits his name. the real John Locke, the philosoper, expressed his belief that education makes the man, and said that the mind is an “empty cabinet” with the statement, “I think I may say that of all the men we meet with, nine parts of ten are what they are, good or evil, useful or not, by their education."

By the way I read that a Canadian band Moneen released a song called "Don't Ever Tell Locke What He Can't Do" on their album The Red Tree !

I tell you, John Locke rocks and is hot!

I also got to see a little of Desmond which is always a plus, and Sayid on the zodiac was quite hot too.

And I loved the Ben/Hugo scene with the candy bar. An unlikely pairing that worked very well.

Not sure about the cabin scene though...and Christian Sheperd talking on Jacob's behalf, and Claire being there so calm and content.

The game theme is still there and Jacob is the biggest player here...which makes sense since I believe he is JJ Abrams.

Concerning Battlestar Galactica I wasn't impressed by the three last episodes but my show is back!

"Faith" was intense from the beginning to the last scene, from the mutiny to the hopeful ending. To be honest I wasn't  that moved by the Roslin scenes, her teary speech about her mother and the dream she had...but it was well played. I enjoyde the Laura/Emily interactions and how they discussed the gods...the "I don't want metaphors I wnat answers" made me smile, as if Emily was speeking on a certain audience's behalf.

But really, Roslin should have seen Billy in her dream! I was sad that she kinda forgot to cast him in her vision of an afterlife bank filled with beloved people(a vision that looked much more Roman than Greek btw) but I guess it's because this episode mostly focused on female interactions.

The Emily/Roslin scene was a nice parallel to the Kara/Hybrid one.  Am I the only one who thinks that Baltar's sermon on the radio was also an elegant and rather subtle echo/parallel to the hybrid's monotonous and obscure speech?

Of course the idea of connection between females also appeared through the kissing Sixes. Neat! I'm sure men loved that scene.

Athena was the only one who rejected physical connection with her sisters. She jerked when the Eight touched her shoulder, she scolded her child-like clones and eventually she couldn't reach the dying Eight's hand. She chose her side, grew up into a human being through love (thanks to Helo but also Adama), comradship and motherhood, and now she's avoiding temptation.

The only connection Sharon is willing to give in is the one to the family she chose. And the Helo/Sharon kiss, was so sweet and made me so happy. But with the other Cylons around, in front of adversaries, she's Athena, War goddess, strong, inflexible.

And I LOVED Athena so much in this episode, and how she overcame Starbuck at the beginning of the episode!

Oddly enough I also liked Sam for everything he did, from shooting Gaeta, to threatening the nameless Six who killed the annoying girl whose name I've forgotten, to wanting to touch the Cylon goo, and eventually to helping the dying Eight...He's grown into an interesting character.

And poor Helo who wanted to help his friend Felix but didn't want to leave his wife behind and lose her. Impossible choices! Tahmoh had the most beautiful face in those scenes as Sharon was away.

Beautiful conflicted people. Inner conflicts and outer conflicts, always conflicted.

I even liked the Adama/Roslin scene, especially with Patriarch Adama telling her he missed all his kids, Kara, Lee, Helo, Athena and Gaeta !

And of course Leoben is hot but it goes without saying.

I luff Anders like nobody's business, but I can't help but laugh at how much he is just screwing up left, right and centre this season :D I half-expected him to actually touch the Cylon Microsoft Goo and accidentally FTL jump them two weeks into the past!

I continue to be amazed at how deft Grace Park has become as an actress, she really knocked this one out of the... well, park! Her and Tahmoh play their scenes wonderfully, there's a grounded reality to their love (sweet and geniune) that's missing in a lot of other TV relationships. And of course, it helps that they're both smoking hot ;)

Not sure how I feel about the Roslin/Emily scenes, even now... They were well-acted, that goes without saying, but until we have an idea of where this whole monotheism storyline is going I can't really say how I feel about what happened with Roslin and Emily. But I will say this - I loved when Emily pointed out that if the Cylon God is the One True God, then he belongs to *everyone*. I hadn't really thought of it that way before, but she's right. And that puts a whole other spin on Baltar's storyline...

Sharon/Helo is a wonderful couple and I agree with you. Their relationship doesn't look like other tv romances. I think we have to thank both actors for that but especially Tahmoh. Any interaction he has on screen with anyone looks real.

I think he could even make it work with Eliza Dushku on "Dollhouse" which says a lot...*eg*

Have you seen episode 7? My heart is still beating wildely.

Literally just finished it!

Awesome episode, loved the fact that finally these characters are sharing information and actually putting the puzzle together (if only the same could be said about the guys on Lost!). Can't wait to see how Roslin and Baltar cope on the baseship.

Do you think Natalie's really dead, or will Cottle be able to save her? I hope she isn't, she's a brilliant character, but I'll accept her being dead if Caprica can take her place as leader of the Cylon rebellion!

I think Nathalie has to die to make room for Caprica, and after her speech about death being the missing piece Cylons needed, her death made sense.

Hera is a creepy toddler, isn't she? But the girl they found really look like both Grace and Tahmoh!

Too many emotions for my little heart, Tom yesterday and Battlestar Galactica today. :- )

Okay, yeah, I understand that (the Natalie thing) :) As long as Caprica actually gets a storyline now, I'm happy!
