Fictional horror

I saw War of the Worlds...I hesitated because Tom Cruise is such an idiot in RL but I thought that maybe Spielberg could have done something watchable...and I actually enjoyed Minority Report so I decided to give it a chance.

I don't have much to say except that Tom Cruise's acting was quite decent actually (and so were the young actress playing his daughter and Tim Robbins) and the direction was good but Spielberg has gone down in my esteem again. A.I sucked big time but this movie could have been an entertaining horror/action flick, despite a few implausibilities in the scenario (like the car being intact outside the house destroyed by the airplane crash!) if only the ending hadn't screwed up everything. When Ray let Robbie leave I crossed my fingers, hoping that we won't see him again in the end. But I guess that Hollywood wanted a happy ending! *rolls eyes*

I saw it on the weekend. I thought he was pretty good too. Most definitely not his typical leading man type of role. I was surprised that they didn't glam him up much at all. I agree Tim Robbins and the young actress were good as well.

LOL re the big happy ending, we were discussing it after the show. Not very Josslike at all.

BTW. Have a wonderful vacation.
