...show I'm currently watching which means it's also the last tv series I can think about.

I'm unspoiled but an Internet friend told me that there would be several people dying at the end of season 3.

As I said in my previous post I can't believe that Locke is dead.

First off we didn't actually see him die. We saw him being shot and being not well, almost fainting probably. That is all.

Besides Locke can't be dead, he's a key character on the show when it comes to the island's nature and all the mystery stuff, as well as Hurley and Desmond! So I believe that those three characters just can't die before it's over. They are definitely safe.

I wish that Jack would be killed off but it's very unlikely since he represents mainstream tv and cliche-on-legs and the writers (or the network) obviously want to keep the show partly mainstream and partly innovating.

I wish that the new quadrangle of doom would end but, again with the mainstream, tv writers seem to think that triangle or quadrangle are necessary on tv. However the last time we got one on Lost a girl died (Ana-Lucia) so they might do it again...Are they going to make Juliet have sex with Sawyer before killing her off? It would be more interesting if Kate had sex with Jack or confessing her love for him before dying...

Killing Juliet would be the easiest route, the lest risky one audience-wise, but the character is far more intriguing than Kate these days. In the past when a character appeared and played a kind of double to a major character, like Eko to Locke, he had to go though.

Anyway one of those two girls has to disappear soon or later.

Of course now that James Ford has faced Tom Swayer aka Cooper, his journey could be considered over but if the writers kill Sawyer they know they're going to lose a major part of the female audience so I don't think they will dare it.

Jin's storyline has been on a hiatus so far so he might be expendable, but he's too pretty to die, besides Jin and Sun kinda work together on screen. They embodie the concept of the couple (with its love but also the lies, the secrets, the little weaknesses, the betrayals and the loyalty)rather than an individual journey, so they're basically on the same boat. Sun's pregnancy is probably something that is going to be essential next season. Now that  there's a Sword of Damocles above Sun's head , Jin/Sun has become the opposite of Bernard/Rose (Rose was dying from cancer but the island saved her and allowed the couple to last).

And of course we have now new connections. Ben's parents seemed to be possible avatars of Jin/Sun and Ben/Annie represented another avatar of the couple, especially with the wood dolls thanks to which they couldn't be parted. Ben still has the doll, keeping Annie with him.

Concerning Penny and Desmond it's all about separation. It's romantic and epic, it's the stuff myths are made on.

I wonder how the writers will end the couple's journey. Which patern will overcome? The sad one (Ben's parents or Ben/Annie) or the miraculous one(Bernard/Rose)?

What about Charlie and Claire and Aaron?

Well, even though they look like a little family I don't think they belong to the couple category actually. Charlie obviously has an individual journey, separated from Claire's. He was the a drug addict so he played/flirted with death long before Desmond talked about his visions. He was also a brother (just like Eko was) who couldn't deal with the fact Liam deserted him and the band. Charlie's raison d' ĂȘtre is to have a big brother, not a wife. He tried Locke, Eko...and lately Desmond. But it's Liam he's desperatly wanting. Baby Aaron was there to point it out, not to be Charlie's surrogate son. In the Bible Aaron is Moses' older brother, he doenst' really exit apart from Moses. Charlie wanted to be close to Aaron because he wanted to come back close to his brother.

According to Desmond's visions Charlie is meant to die so he might die indeed. He had been saved every time so far so maybe the writers think they would surprise the viewers if Charlie did die eventually.

Claire could die too I suppose, but there's still that connection with Jack that none of them knows about so there's stuff enough to justify her staying on the island. I bet that next season they will discover that they are siblings.

Also I think that Aaron is also connected to Locke. Not only because of past episodes in which Claire and Locke were close and Locke built the crib, but also because of more recent episodes.

When Desmond started forecasting events he emphasized the fact that Locke would deliver a speech. And he did. And now we have Locke's last words to Ben "Help me". Locke was channeling Jacob or saying what Jacob told him.
If Jacob is a god-like figure (and he is since he's JJ Abrams!), Ben (Benjamin coming from Benyamin that means "son of luck") used to be his prophet and Locke challenged that position. A prophet literally is "the one who speaks for God", he's the link between a god and human beings. In the Bible Moses is the one hearing God, receiving the Law, leading the Hebrews, but his brother Aaron is always the one doing the speeches. He's eloquent and persuasive, he's Moses' spokeman. I think that Locke has become both Moses and Aaron.

And I think he might come back on screen and deliver again some important speech.

Well that's all I have on my mind today. I must return to Marking Hell now.

I don't think that Locke is really dead either -- the "Help Me" is essentially a brand new storyline for him to explore.

Charlie, though -- his time is up, I think.

But no one really stays dead on this island, anyway.

I like the idea of Sun/Jin having parallels with Ben and his parents. I'm starting to think that Ben is the avatar of the island -- it's acting out his personal history by having all pregnant women die. It would explain why Ben is so desperate to get rid of Locke, who could easily replace him as that avatar with his innate understanding of/connection to the island.

It should be fun to watch.

You're right Ben may be responsible for the pregnant women dying on the island indeed. His father told him it was his fault that his mother died so the island might resonate with Ben's subconcious just like it did with Locke's...making his father appear. For Ben pregnancy means death.

So Ben must die if we want Sun to survive!
