I guess I am on the minority here, but I'm one of the few people who liked the second season of The Wire.

It's all [personal profile] selenak 's fault because she got me thinking about Breaking Bad and possible crossovers.

If I ever needed something to remind me the reason I loved Spike so much, here is a list of the 50 best Spike moments (for James Marster's 50th birthday).

Also I've been re-watching the first season of The Wire and feeling the Omar love all over again (and the Bubbles love, and the Daniels love, and the McNulty love...but Omar Little is just so special).

This time, I'm contemplating death in The Wire.

I've been reading reactions to the last episode of Breaking Bad, and it's obvious that the audience is pretty much divided in two teams: the viewers who root for the good guy aka Hank, and those who love cool villains and root for the bad guys.

I have never been that intrigued by "cool villains" because I see them as tv tropes most of the time (my favourite villain this year was a mature woman in Justified! She was not "cool" but she was one of the greatest villains ever), and as much as I adore Hank, I find myself rooting for Walt these days.cut for length not for spoilers )

Now I'm back to reading stuff on inquisition...

It was a satisfying ending, even though maybe not very subtle in some parts, bittersweet but not as bleak as I expected.

If I had the money I would buy a new DVD player and the 5 seasons of The Wire on dvd.

"Goodnight moon, Goodnight stars, Goodnight po-pos, Goodnight fiends, Goodnight hoppers, Goodnight hustlers
Goodnight scammers, Goodnight to everybody, Goodnight to one and all."

This Sunday has been lazy so far, after a busy Saturday spent partly in the Quartier latin (going to Musée de Cluny with [personal profile] herself_nyc and then having a drink in front of la Sorbonne), partly in Montparnasse (running errands) and eventually  with going out again in the evening in St Germain. I went to bed at 2 am and didn't fall asleep until 3. BTW sorry [personal profile] moscow_watcher for not wishing you a happy birthday!

So I haven't done much today apart from enjoying a long bath, eating vegetables and fruits (and dark chocolate!), reading a little bit, and watching the penultimate episode of The Wire. We're near the end, beautiful friends. I have waited a long time before resuming the watchage but after Lance Reddick's hilarious scene in the latest FRINGE, I wanted to see Cedric Daniels again. Also I read that the actor playing Tommy Carcetti is in Game of Thrones so if I'm willing to give a try to the fantasy series I guess that I should bid my farewell to mister Mayor first.

This episode, "Late Editions" was excellent Read more... )
Only one 90 minute episode left. I'm gonna miss that show  a great deal.

Dee is such a tragic character...

And Bubs breaks my heart; I keep being worried about him.

Really, I love Lance Reddick!

I didn't notice him on OZ (I only had eyes for Eammon Walker then) and he had such a small part on Lost, but I already loved him as Broyles on FRINGE.

He is simply terrific as Cedric Daniels on The Wire.

Since it's pretty quiet on the tv front, I have begun a The Wire marathon. I meant to watch it for a while but it's a 5 season series and I had already current shows to watch. But now that I've started, I feel that I won't be able to stop.

I'm 4 episodes into season 1 and loving it. I'm already hooked.

The Wire reminds me of The Shield a lot, with a little bit of OZ too. Actually it's more ambitious than The Shield. It is a great show that deserves all the praises it received, although I wouldn't call it the best tv series ever made. Maybe I'll change my mind, but it doesn't have that little something, art-wise, that the shows I put in my tv pantheon (that is OZ, BtVS, BSG and Breaking Bad) have.
