I love the paralells you draw between the BtVS characters and Dante's, 'Divine Comedy', and I so agree with you about the portrayal of Spike in FFL versus LMPTM. The latter being a sad reflection of ME's inattention to the characters and continuity as the series rolled closer to the end, and some dire acting for numerous members of the cast, IMO.
