List two songs and the memories they bring back.
Then tag three people to do the same in their journal.

I think I did a similar meme months ago, and it was more than 2 songs...Ok I'll try not to repeat myself.

1. Le Petit Chat est Mort by Renaud

Va donc pas pleurer
Y s'baladait peinard
Il avait pas d'collier
Il était libre d'aller
Et d'rev'nir pour bouffer
Il était même pas prisonnier
De ton amour insensé

T'aurais quand même pas
Voulu qu'y vive comme un con
Sur le canapé
Loin des gouttières des pigeons
C'était un aventurier
T'aurais pas voulu qu'on l'attache
Y t'aurais miaulé: « Mort aux vaches! »

On l'enterr'ra demain j'te jure

A cause qu’on s'demande bien pourquoi

Yeah I know that song brings back sad memories, because too many little cats have died in my life. When it was released, I had just lost a little cat too. The song reminds me of that grief but also that other people went through the same feelings, and that cats must be loved. It's bittersweet. I wished my own father had told me something like that (Renaud wrote that song for his daughter) when my first cat died while I was 12. Also, it's by Renaud Séchan and I had a "Renaud phase" when I was a teenager, as many teenagers! It didn't last, and Renaud isn't my favourite French singer/song writer but when he made that album, a few years ago, I bought it, because of little cats dying over the world, because of that young girl who loved him  I once was.

2. Simarik by Tarkan

It's a Turkish song, and the kind of "music" that I usually wouldn't listen to! But I bought the album in 1997. I was on holiday, and we could hear that song everywhere in Turkey, all the time ! It was fun and catchy, so I gave in, and I found it was pretty cool to buy a Turkish CD in Cappadoce( I also bought 2 keleems, earrings, scarf etc). That song reminds me of that travel, of the great sites I saw (Ephèse, Cappadoce), of the turning dervishes in Konya, of Ankara Museum, of all the wonders in Istambul (Topkapi Palace, Saint Sophia, Suleyman Mosque, Blue Mosque, The Bosphore ...) and of that stupid guide who had just become a father but came scratching my door at night while I was obviously not interested in him...It was a short travel, only 8 days, totaly unprepared, since I made up my mind only a couple of days before the departure. I just needed to go somewhere at the time, all by myself. I looked at something rather cheap on the Minitel (hey that was before the Internet age for me!), bought a one week-tour and found myself in Turkey!

About  a year later, Tarkan's song was released in Europe and became a hit in France, I danced a lot on its heavy beats, and I sooooo felt like an avant-gardist for buying it in Turkey!

Do the meme if you want to, I'm not tagging anyone.
