I loved the final scene of True Blood as well! Russell is a far more superior and entertaining "big bad" than last season's. He is the classic villain, a vampire who revels in who he is. Not some teenage hearthrob, he's lived for over 3,000 years. He's not a lovesick puppy like Bill, although let's face it, puppy's are cute. And he's not a sick psychopath like Tara's kidnapper. He doesn't care for finesse, he'll rip your heart out and display it on national television, then have a good laugh with the weathergirl. He's a Vampire with a capital V, and I think he's great! When I think of Russel I'm reminded of the scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's episode "Fool for Love" when Spike tells Angel "Did I sully our good name? We're Vampires!" Russel just brings the fun in moments when True Blood is in danger of taking itself too seriously.
As far as Mad Men, Don has become a completely unsympathetic character. I was cheering when his secretary walked out in last week's episode. Don's only redeeming factor, besides his children, is his friendship with Anna. And I did feel a tinge of sympathy at the end of episode 3, "Good News," as Don sits with a sad expression on his face while Joan welcomes the new year. He knows he's going to lose his best friend, unable to share her last days or help her through her illness.
