Yeah.... but I do not see the idea that the Alt!Verse has to come about because of ... oh, wait.... The whole idea of Ben being on the Island with Dharma but then leaving with his father....
If setting off the bomb at Swann changed time then Ben was indeed shot. He and his father would have been evacuated like the others on the sub. But Ben was then shot and revived at the temple in either Universe.
But if the drilling at Orchid is the trigger which splits the universes then Ben wasn't shot or revived. And that creates the Alt!Verse. It all turns on Ben. In the Alt!Verse Ben could not have been shot because no one would have been there from the future, Sawyer, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Miles, to shoot Ben. Because Ben cannot be there to turn the wheel to start everyone flashing through time on the Island.
I agree that we are the Alt!Verse, everything you watch on TV is and alternate Universe. But I will keep calling the LAXverse the Alt!verse What sent Jack, Kate and Hurley back in time when they came in on the second plane? Jacob? Some Island energy?
Everyone's past is different in the Alt!Verse, so one has to follow the threads of their lives back to a point when everything changed..... DESMOND!! Something in his youth? Or Sawyer himself, chose policeman over grifter. Jacob's 'be good' admonition to Sawyer. Though Kate did not follow it. Or the Island itself. It sunk. Big why? Whatever changed the timelines had to change before the LAX past of Ben, Sawyer, and Jack and Locke (and maybe Hurley). Kate, Claire, and Charlie seem not to have changed their pasts. Possibly this is important concerning what happens in the Islandverse. Maybe, just maybe time was really changed by the nuclear bomb the others had. Maybe it went off even further into the past, released the Swan energy and thus the Island submerged.
