Oh, I see his work through similar prism, just not Dante. (because I haven't read it) or Chaucer (because, sigh, not a medievalist - but I have read it.) I see it through the more contemporary works.

By the way - Joss Whedon did not write Belonging. It was his brother Jed and Jed's wife - the same two people who wrote Epitaph. Whedon only wrote the first episode of the season - Vowes. Tara Butters wrote the Instinct or Wife of Bath episode, and Tim Minear wrote Belle Chose. It's worth noting because those writers bring different things to the table. While Whedon may not be religious inclined, his brother might be.

I minored in cultural anthropology - specializing in Christian and Celtic mythology, along with Babylonian, Egyptian and Greek. ;-)
