...où subsiste encore to echo. Où subsiste encore to écho.

So that was a huge defeat but England deserved that victory, they were obviously better and faster than us; our team was just the shadow of a rugby team, hopeless and broken. At least we scored one try.

Not a good weekend for France, after Alain Bashung died yesterday. La nuit je mens is a song I love because of its lyrics and because Tom did a cover of it.

So speaking of echoes, here's a few thoughts about Dollhouse, I promised earlier.

Who were the true believers of the title? The dolls? The followers of the fanatical cult? Adele Dewitt? Paul Ballard? Echo was made blind so they could see through her eyes and she wouldn't see the evil in front of her. Basically she was still in a doll state while being Esther, protected from the tainted world.

Again there was some stuff that I found quite disappointing, like the obvious parallel between the sect's ideal of purity (the garden), the bliss followers were experiencing, and Adele's speech about the Dollhouse, and how purity must be preserved in there–and therefore erections were to be banned! Also I wasn't convinced by the cult plot (looked like an excuse of a plot) and how Esther/Echo suddenly challenged the guru and saved the day...I mean, I understand the idea that seeing evil would somehow break the "doll spell" and triggered Caroline's personality but something was off with Eliza's acting again, and the whole thing seemed botched up.  And there was Boyd saving Echo in the end. Well, the scene and the shot were everything but original.

However I liked the Genesis analogy and the idea of "the snake in the garden". I  enjoyed the fact that Viktor was attracted to Sierra. I really like Sierra by the way. I find her much more intriguing than Echo. I also liked that the twist of the ATF guy writing the "Save me" message, faking a cry for help. It seems to me a nice parallel to Alpha sending messages to Paul Ballard to make him save Caroline/Echo. Makes you wonder who Alpha really is now...

And there's still Paul's neigbour whom he has accepted, in a way, just like Esther was accepted in the cult. She's trying to sneak into his life (I can't remember her name, Mellie?), she cooks for him but doesn't get the same man reaction Sierra got from Viktor! Paul turns a blind eye. Flirting isn't his forte, either when he's the one trying to charm or the one being crushed on.

Paul hungers for knowledge, he craves info and it's Alpha who gave him the metaphorical apple, so he can only sees Caroline now.

And there's the Security guy trying to get rid of Echo. Does he follow his own agenda or does he work for someone else? Is he a true believer who wants to protect the Dollhouse from a possible snake? I suppose that his hitting her was a way to point out the parallel with the guru. Will he try to burn the doll house as well?
