Flower Power

This week has been hectic so far and I'm bound to Marking Hell still for a while(at least tomorrow and on Saturday). Today it was non-stop work, from 8:00 to 16:30, I did not have lunch time(I'm supposed to have a break off teaching between 12:40 and 13:05 but I had stuff to do) and I left the school feeling exhausted which isn't surprising. I didn't even get a break to go to the loo during the whole day (I swear it's true) and ran from the subway exit to my place because I soo needed to pee. TMI?

So when I came back home I fed the cats, after relieving my bladder, and went out to the hairdresser. Yeah I was too tired to go shoe shopping.

Next week is gonna be tough too, for I have term meetings on Monday and Tuesday evening after the class. I won't leave the school before 20:00 at best. I'm going to spend 11 hours at school on Monday and I will miss my piano lesson on Tuesday. :-(

In case you wonder the connection between the title of this post and the content so far...the reason is that I've just watched Lost. But I suppose that my icon gave it away.

So this episode was Sawyer-centric which is usually good news. From now on I'm going to call him, Mr Dimples.

Those dimples of his are just too cute. The look in his eyes has become really soft too. He started as Sawyer, the outsider, the man who wanted everyone to hate him and now he is just Sweet James, a leader whom everybody can count on. What a journey! I found also adorable his "And Jin, he's a hell of a nice guy but not a great conversationlist".

Jin just needed 3 years to become a good conversationalist, that's all! The "he's a hell of a nice guy" made me swoon. I just love Jin/James.

So I enjoyed the episode and its flower leitmotiv (the name James chose of course, the 70's pattern, the flower he picked for Juliet) but I could have lived without the ending which was too phoned, from the conversation he had with Horace to Jin calling him and his seeing Kate again. *rolls eyes*

I liked the parallels between the Oceanic 6 and those who were left behind. They all lied on and off the island. They have all spent 3 years on their own. 3 years, it's the amount of time for a love potion's effects to fade away, according to Tristan et Yseult. I hope that the quadrangle of doom isn't back. James and Juliet are perfect together. Kate and Jack are going to mess everything up. And where is Sayid?

Of course Daniel had to spot little Charlotte but I really wonder where younger Ben is. I mean Ben and his father should already be there, in the Dharma village. Did his leaving the island screwed up his whole existence on it, even his youth and his killing everyone?

If so Ben, whose mother died giving birth to him, could have been the reason why no woman could survive childbirth. And there's Paul's necklace, a "key of life"...a new connection to Egyptian stuff.

Charlotte died on the island and her body vanished, Locke died off the island and his body was resurrected. Miles can hear dead people, but  Hugo talks to them too. We've seen many ghosts on and off the island. Is Claire dead or alive? What is the key of life that the island seems to hold?

Does Richard Alpert, the man who never ages, have the key?

ETA: Speaking of Lost, MSN has pictures from "behind the scenes": http://tv.msn.com/gallery/lost-behind-the-scenes/?photoidx=1

I know Locke wasn't really on yesterday's episode but Terry O'Quinn rocks. What a beautiful man.

I liked this episode as well and must admit, while I'm not really shipping any of these characters, my favorites are Lock and Sawyer. And Juliet has grown on me. She and James really fit well together and bring out the best in one another. Kate and Jack while of course cause problems - since both Juliet and James have feelings for the other two and vice versa.
Also, the twist is that James and Juliet fell in love and were happy together on the island, while Kate and Jack split apart, fought, and were miserable off the island. Those who stayed are oddly happier than those who had left.

Horace looks familar to me. I'm beginning to wonder if Ben Linus could be...the son of Amy and Paul (the people James saved)? Sounds too coincidental and doesn't quite track - since I think Ben is in his 40s not 30s. But I could be wrong.

Also, can you explain to me why it is that I can remember the names of everyone on Lost (a large cast) but can't remember the names of 80% of the characters on Dollhouse? ( a much smaller cast).

Juliet has grown on me too.

There's no way Ben is younger than Charlotte. Besides he wasn't born on the island. His father was recruited in the U.S by Sharma people.

I don't think that Amy and Paul had a son together. She looked childless until she became pregnant with Horace's child, 3 years later. By the way Horace's last name was Goodspeed so the baby boy must be the guy who was the husband of Juliet's shrink, the one Juliet had an affair with, the one jealous Ben sent to the Oceanic survivors, along with Ethan, and whom Ana-Lucia killed.

Baiscally Juliet helped to give birth to her past/future lover!

I think that Dollhouse is still too "new" to be really part of "your world" so the names of the characters don't stick whether they are regular or not. When you get used to a show, when it becomes a little piece of your life the names naturally leave a print on your mind.

Dharma not Sharma. Bloody keyboard!

I was wrong. I checked Lostpedia and the name of Juliet's lover was actually Goodwin, not Goodspeed.

I also expected to see a young (tween-teen) Ben somewhere, but I suppose he only arrived at the island a little later than the events we saw.

The conversation between Horace and Sawyer about why Horace got drunk and Sawyer's musings about that ONE girl was really off - it didn't feel organic to me and it's sad to think that it only served the purpose of reminding everyone of Sawyer-Kate just before our Oceanic 3 arrive.

Sawyer really should have told Juliet why he had to go - bad choice, but well, we need the conflict... (I so hope we don't get a torrid love quadrangle.)

Ben and Roger Linus are going to show up very soon then, because they were supposed to arrive sometime in the 70's and we are already in 1977!

I wonder if Ben's coming back screwed up the time line of his life. Can he exist on the island at the same time as kid!Ben? Perhaps that's the reason of his condition in the infirmery of the Hydra station.

The fact that Charlotte's body vanished might be a clue. Her corpse couldn't remain since toddler!Charlotte was already there.

Lost spec makes my head hurt.

I saw a spoilery picture earlier today which is apparently from the next ep.

My head already hurts because of marking!

I'm completely unspoiled.

I hope they'll have some good explanations about the other losties that seemed to have vanished (like Rose, Bernard, Vincent!). Or are they also with the Dharma people but have been hidden to our eyes?

I want to know where Vincent is.

I'm done with the little marking I offered to do and I'm getting a little bored, but that has more to do with the awful weather. When I read about your schedule, I thought: Yeah, I know, why I'm staying at home at the moment - school would definitely be too much for me right now.

So, *hugs* for marking hell and next week's meetings - and I'm wishing you lots of energy, too!

Back to Lost:

I didn't actively seek out the pictures - just stumbled across them and then I couldn't unsee what I saw, but it didn't really tell me anything.

I'm not sure all the lost losties are currently on the same timeline or better, are on the island at the same time.
