My problem with season 7 is that the first half is brilliant but the second half has weak episodes and the finale was botched up IMO. "Chosen" disappointed me despite the "I love you".
In season 3 I love The Mayor, and the Faith/The Mayor arc but I couldn't stand Bangel except in "Beauty and The Beasts".
S 5 I understand what you mean about the epic story, and first I really didn't like the Glory arc, but re-watching it with an analytical perspective I was reconciled with it. And there's my favourite episode, "Fool For Love"...And the Buffybot. Season 5 might be the best Spike season. And "The Body" is really something.
