Strangeness
Jun. 16th, 2011 10:50 amFor the first time in years I am not invigilating the Bac' which began this morning with the 4 hour Philosophy test. They have one hour left*. I don't even know when the History-Geography test occurs...probably on Monday.
Of course I am not complaining about not marking the final exam this year, but I feel strangely out of the loop.
And I guess that getting back to teaching in September will be weird too.
Anyway, here are a few examples of subjects that the students had to ponder and discourse on this morning in Philosophy:
- Is it possible to be right against the facts?
- Is liberty threatened by equality?
- Does self-control depend on self-knowledge?
- Does feeling injustice teach me what is fair? (Not sure about my translation here as in French the word "juste" is polysemous)
- Is Art less necessary than science?
- Does culture unnature men?
- Are men doomed to be delusional about themselves?
*ETA: Apparently, this year the youngest candidate is 12 years and 5 months old! And the oldest is 71!
