Days like that...
It began when I found out a leak from the ceiling in my W.C yesterday...
Now I'm waiting for the plumber...
Today was also anti-homophobic day celebrating the fact W.H.O stopped considering homosexuality as a mental disease in 1990. One of my students wore a tight and short rainbow t-shirt but it's only after the class that I made the connection ! lol
As for me, I wore the Tom McRae t-shirt I bought after his concert at The Olympia in October!
Don't think anyone at school made the connection. Tom's name isn't on the t-shirt, there are only lyrics from How The West Was Won, a blue and white text on a brown t-shirt (with a big blue "Light me a smoke" which is funny since I don't smoke), so only "the happy few" can understand what it is about.

But as I was walking in the street on my way back from the post office, a black guy driving a truck passed by, looked at me and shouted "Yes that's neat!".
Was he a Tom's fan who was in the know?
A pro-smoking guy who thought my chest was delivering a message or something?
Did he simply check me out?
Does that t-shirt make my breasts look bigger????
Days like that...
I called the plumber - only got the answering message- and he called me back this morning just when I was leaving for work. He was willing to come and check today, in the afternoon, but he needed to check the apartment above...which apartment is empty. So I had to found a way to get the keys from the landlord...whom I didn't know ! I only had a name on the mail box.
I went to work being concerned (you know me Anxious Queen of Worrydom !), almost got run over by a car on my way, taught things that bore my students to death, lost my right shoe in the classroom as I was walking around and teaching, and eventually I found in my box the summoning to mark the National exam in June, attend the jury's deliberations, the oral tests etc...At least they don't send me in the suburb.
When I was back home, first I thought of asking the interior decorator whose shop is just below because he's very nice and the kind of man everybody trusts. He must know how to reach the people I needed to contact. Unfortunately the shop was closed.
I managed to get the phone number of the building managing agent, from a neighbour, and when I got someone finally on the phone, they told me they had only the address of the landlord I was trying to contact. Grrrrrrrr....Thanks to the address, I got a phone number fromt he information service...just to found out that the landlord in question who happened to live in Southern France had left the keys to the interior decorator! Meanwhile he had come back so he gave them to me and I called back the plumber.
Since it's a day of bloody hassle, I decided to go to the post office before the plumber came...
In March I ordered
herself_nyc 's novel on Amazon.com. It was supposed to arrive between the end of April and May 9. I still haven't received it. Yesterday I e-mailed Amazon and they told me that it was probably lost but I should check with my local post office just in case. After queuing up for 30 minutes I got to the counter and the guy told me they had too many packages in there so he couldn't help me unless I had a package number. Grrrrrrr...I ran back home, retrieved a package tracking number Amazon provided on email and went back to the post office. Looks like that number didn't work!
Guessing that I was beginning to get really pissed off, the guy told me to write down my address and number and that he would look for the lost package later and would call me.

Hope the plumber can fix the leakage. I gather the raunchy South-American horde have moved out?
So, it's another exam year for you?
I'm very glad that I'm more or less finished with our exams - there might be the slight possibility that one of my students might have to do an oral exam to try to make up for the bad marks in her written exams or I might have to sit in on one of the other exams, but the bulk of the work is behind me. (And behind the students!) There are still some regular classtests that I have to grade but that's not such a big deal.

Yes June and the first half of July are going to be exam oriented. The written part starts June 12 with the Philosophy test as usual(I already know I'm supposed to invigilate it, 4 hours to sit in, it's just so boring). I guess I'll get the History papers the 17th of June.
PS: The leakage came from the W.C above. The plumber simply cut off the water of the apartment. They'll have to get it fixed but it wasn't my decision to make.

I hope the leakage didn't damage your paint/wallpaper too much which reminds me - we caused some leakage in our downstairs neighbours' bathroom and we are meant to paint part of their wall and ceiling, but haven't done it yet. Need to get the boyfriend set on that job.
Le tee-shirt is very nice - I like music t-shirts that aren't too obvious, so I can wear them at school. Works best with unknown bands though.

I like blue and brown together...and yes it's classy when it isn't too obvious.

Yeah I don't usually buy stuff after a concert but that t-shirt was cool. I liked the colours, the idea of a song t-shirt, the fact Tom's name didn't appear on it and that there was that big text with loads of words instead of short motto and puns. It's almost like a karaoke t-shirt! Of course you have to put your face very close ot my chest to read the lyrics. :- )
That's a bloody brilliant icon you have there!

If you are not fandomy talented, never fear! I'm not fandomy talented either! There is still something that you can do in the community. We have a project that we're about to jump start that is basically an "everyone makes their own post to the community" thing that contains their message / birthday wishes to Dawn. I know that you might be busy (trust me, I'm swamped). And I know that you might not be able to contribute to the birthday fund. No one will be brushed aside because they might not be fandomy talented or able to contribute financially. We're interested in getting all of Dawny's friends together so that she might have an archive of all of the things that are given to her this year for her birthday.
Any type of contribution - whether its financial, thoughtful, or fandomy - is extremely appreciated.
You *must* be a member of the community to view posts right now. We have it locked just in case Dawn stubmles upon it. If you are interested in helping spread the birthday cheer, please join
This is a generic message being posted to everyone who is listed as Dawn's mutual friend who has not joined the community.
This is also the last "reminder" you will receive. No worries! I won't be bothering you anymore!
Thanks!
Jennem
